| Cahuilla (Ka-WEE-yah)
is the name of the indigenous people of the Coachella Valley in sunny
Southern California. It means master or powerful ones. This refers not merely to
physical strength, but mental, spiritual, and deep inner strength. The derivation of this
name is thought to be Spanish, but its precise origin is unclear. Our Cahuilla Chapter was organized January 31, 1948. Presently we have a very active membership of more than 115. |
| The DAR is dedicated to historical preservation, promotion of education, and encouragement of patriotic behavior. These goals are as relevant in today's society as they were in 1890, when the organization was founded. |
